Enrolment Conditions

Fees

  • Provisions to safeguard payments made in advance
  1. Tuition fees paid before the program commences are deposited into the South Australian Institute of Business and Technology Student Fees Account.
  2. Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for international students is withdrawn from the student fees account and paid to the Health Insurance Fund prior to student arrival.
  3. When students arrive SAIBT withdraws the funds from the student fees account progressively throughout the semester
  • All fees, charges, and accounts are payable in advance as determined by SAIBT from time to time. Students are not permitted to commence or continue their program at the beginning of any semester until all outstanding fees, charges or accounts are paid
  • Fees are correct as of the time of printing. SAIBT reserves the right to vary its fees at any time.
  • Where a student studies less than or more than a full semester load (four courses) the student will pay the current course fee for each course undertaken.
  • Should it be necessary to repeat a course the full amount will be charged.

Other Conditions

  • Students are expected to attend all classes and undertake all tests and examinations during a program and abide by all SAIBT rules and regulations that are in force at any time.
  • SAIBT may by written notice vary conditions of enrolment as may be necessary to comply with any law, regulation, or amendment thereof of the Commonwealth of Australia and the State of South Australia.
  • The contract between the applicant and SAIBT is governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Australia and the State of South Australia.
  • In the event where circumstances require urgent medical care and it is not possible to contact the parent/guardian, SAIBT is authorised as a matter of urgency to seek and provide appropriate care.
  • Students must meet the minimum English language proficiency requirement for entry into the program. English language proficiency will be tested. If testing reveals that English language skills are insufficient, the student will be required to include a bridging English course in the first semester of study or enrol in an ELICOS course prior to the commencement of studies at the discretion of SAIBT.

International Students/Visa Conditions

  • International students are not permitted to study part-time unless they are already in Australia on a spouse's study visa or a diplomatic or dependent temporary resident visa.
  • Student visas are usually issued for the duration of the full program. Students who wish to extend their visa should first consult SAIBT Student Services for assistance. Students must leave Australia or seek a new visa before the expiration of their current visa. Student visa application or renewal information is available at http://www.immi.gov.au/.
  • SAIBT is obliged to report to the Australian Government any student who does not attend classes or who is not making satisfactory progress in their studies. Such a student may be asked by the Government to leave the country.
  • It is a requirement that international students pay Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) while staying in Australia. OSHC fees are reviewed annually. As a member of OSHC 85% of the Government scheduled fees for private doctors, pathology and x-rays are paid. The OSHC does not cover any pre-existing condition prior to entry into Australia, including pregnancy.   • Student visa condition 8533 requires students to notify their education provider of any change to their residential address in Australia within 7 days.
  • International students can only work 20 hours a week while classes are in session.
  • Students should acquaint themselves with full Australian student visa conditions at http://www.immi.gov.au/ BEFORE accepting your offer at SAIBT.

  • Information is collected throughout the students’ enrolment in order to meet our obligations under the Education Services for Overseas students Act 2000 (ESOS Act) and the National Code of Practice for Registration Authorities and Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2007 (National Code 2007); to ensure student compliance with the conditions of their visas and their obligations under Australian immigration laws generally. The authority to collect student information is contained in the ESOS Act, the Education Services for Overseas Students Regulations 2001 and the National Code 2007. Information collected during enrolment can be provided to the student, in certain circumstances, to the Australian Government and designated authorities and, if relevant, the Tuition Assurance Scheme and the ESOS Assurance Fund Manager. In other instances, information collected during enrolment can be disclosed without student consent where authorised or required by law.
